Checkups and cleanings

Regular preventive visits are the foundation of long-term oral health. They remove plaque and buildup, let us track changes over time, and catch concerns early, often before you notice anything. We’ll suggest how often to come in based on your teeth and gums, not a one-size-fits-all rule.

  • A gentle exam of your teeth, gums and bite, with low-radiation digital X-rays.
  • Ultrasonic plaque removal and polishing.
  • Oral cancer screening as part of your checkup.
  • Fluoride and enamel protection to help prevent cavities.
  • Home care tips for brushing, flossing and anything specific to your mouth.

When a tooth needs treatment

Tooth pain, sensitivity or trouble chewing can affect your whole day. General dentistry restores comfort and function so you can eat, speak and smile with confidence. Depending on what we find, we may recommend:

  • Tooth-coloured fillings to repair cavities, matched to your natural enamel. See bonding and tooth-coloured fillings.
  • Crowns and bridges to restore damaged or missing teeth, made from a comfortable 3D digital scan instead of putty.
  • Root canal therapy to treat an infected tooth.
  • Dentures to replace several missing teeth.
  • Extractions when a tooth can’t be saved.
  • Emergency visits for pain, injury or infection. See emergency dental care.

Before any treatment starts, we explain what we see, your options, and any out-of-pocket costs.

Less drilling, whenever we can

We practise minimal intervention dentistry: saving as much of your natural tooth as possible. Instead of aggressive drilling, we use gentle tools to find and treat problems early, which means smaller fillings and less discomfort.

Waterlase laser

Laser energy and a fine water spray treat many cavities and gum concerns with less vibration and, in many cases, no needles. About laser dentistry

Air abrasion

A precise, drill-free way to prepare a tooth before a filling.

Silver diamine fluoride

A painless liquid that can stop some cavities from getting worse, helpful for young children and seniors.

Digital scans

A small camera wand replaces goopy impression trays for crowns, bridges and guards.

Care for the whole family

We see kids, adults and seniors, so your whole family can come to one place. Gentle, non-invasive tools like the laser can be less intimidating for children than traditional dental equipment.

If you’re nervous about the dentist, you’re not alone, and there’s no judgment here. Dr. Okhravi has more than 15 years of experience helping anxious patients, and we never rush.

Common questions

It depends on your teeth and gums. Many people come every six months, while some need more or fewer visits. We’ll recommend a schedule that fits you.
Digital X-rays need less radiation than older film X-rays. A panoramic X-ray is a very small dose, roughly equal to a few days of the natural background radiation we all receive. Read more about digital X-rays.
Often, yes. With the Waterlase laser, many patients don’t need freezing for fillings and some gum treatments. It depends on the tooth and the treatment, and we’ll tell you what to expect before we start.
