What is Invisalign, in plain words?
Invisalign is a way to straighten teeth using a series of custom-made, clear plastic aligners instead of brackets and wires. Each set is shaped a little differently from the one before. As you move from one set to the next, your teeth shift gradually toward the smile that was planned for you.
Because the aligners are clear and fit closely over your teeth, most people won’t notice you’re wearing them. And unlike braces, you can take them out to eat, drink, brush, and floss.
How treatment works
- A consultation and a quick 3D scan. We start by talking about your goals. Then we scan your teeth with our TRIOS digital scanner, a small camera wand that replaces messy putty molds with a precise 3D model of your mouth.
- Your personal plan and timeline. Using your scan, we plan how your teeth will move and give you a timeline that fits your case. Every smile is different, so we’ll tell you what to expect for yours.
- Wearing your aligners. You wear each set for 20 to 22 hours a day, then switch to the next set as we direct. Each new set continues the movement a little further.
- Checking your progress. We see you along the way to make sure your teeth are moving as planned, and we answer any questions that come up.
Why patients choose clear aligners

Virtually invisible
The aligners are clear, so you can straighten your teeth without a mouth full of metal, whether you’re at work, in photos, or out with friends.
Removable
Take them out for meals, so there’s no list of foods to avoid. Just brush before you put them back in.
Easier to keep clean
With no brackets or wires in the way, you can brush and floss the way you always have.
Gentler than braces
There are no sharp wires or brackets to rub your cheeks. Most people find aligners more comfortable than traditional braces.
Does it hurt?
Invisalign is designed to be gentle. You may feel some pressure for a few days each time you switch to a new set of aligners. That pressure is a sign your teeth are moving, and it usually fades quickly. Most people find it much more comfortable than the wires and brackets of traditional braces.
How long does it take?
Every smile is unique, but most adult cases are finished within 12 to 18 months. At your consultation, we’ll give you a personal timeline based on your teeth and your goals.
How well you wear your aligners makes a real difference. Wearing them for 20 to 22 hours a day keeps your treatment on schedule.
Cost, insurance, and payment
- Cost. Treatment usually costs between $3,500 and $5,500, depending on how complex your case is. We’ll give you a clear estimate at your consultation.
- Insurance. Many dental insurance plans in Ontario include orthodontic benefits. Check with your provider to see whether orthodontic coverage is part of your plan. We can also prepare a predetermination and submit it to your insurer before treatment starts, so you know what’s covered.
- Payment plans. We offer flexible financing. Monthly payments usually range from $250 to $350, depending on your down payment and the length of your treatment.
- Health Spending Accounts. If your employer offers a Health Spending Account (HSA) or Flexible Spending Account (FSA), you can often use it toward Invisalign. Check your plan details to confirm.

Good to know
- Take your aligners out to eat or to drink anything other than water, and brush before you put them back in.
- The 20 to 22 hours a day really matters. Aligners only move your teeth while you’re wearing them.
